I have always had an adventurous spirit. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest you couldn't let things let weather dictate your lifestyle. I would run and bike in the rain, ski in the sleet, hike in thunder storms - why not. But life has a way of changing, and now I live in San Diego, far from inclement weather, with my family, learning the way of the beach.

From the beginning I have always been interested in art. My grandfather was a self taught oil painter, who intrigued me and encouraged me down this path. From there it was oil pastels, to charcoal, and off to art school. I believe it is my fine arts roots that sets me apart from others. Assembling of pieces into a whole, and getting it to tell a story. It was never enough to just make a pretty picture, I needed you to feel the experience, and understand why the image or design exists. Storytelling.

Storytelling is a crucial part to my work. Saying as much as I can with as little as possible. Eliciting the emotional response. Engaging the viewer. I have always loved stories, from books to movies to comics (going so far as to self-publish one). Storytelling is also the mainstay for good salesmanship. Getting a potential client to engage with your message is very important in establishing trust and commitment, so why not apply that to design.
